Life After Graduation

Graduation from college can be exciting, overwhelming but at the same time can be frightening and stressful. Students must face with major decisions such as launching a job, deciding their career, relocating, or continue their education. This can be very stressful for those students who do not know what exactly to do in their lives.

After spending three or four years studying, after finally adjusting your life with new people and new faces, then going to a complete new area can be difficult for everyone. Your graduation ceremony signifies the end of an era and start of a new beginning.

Some students have the details of their lives pre-planned, while some find it impossible to do. Some students enjoy studying and planning while others hang their lives here and now.

There are number of different routes to take as you complete your graduation and everyone’s journey will be different. But whichever path you choose it is important to take full advantage of any free time you have to make plans and start putting them into actions.

Here are the three steps you can take after you graduate:

Get a graduate job

The majority of graduates’ students look for a job that suites to their career. Out of 100 only 10 students know where and what kind of work they need to do. Majority of them do not know what are their abilities as well.

So, for those students who do not know what to do after graduation, you should find a suitable job for themselves which fits according to their career. You should be careful not to allow a gap to develop your CV, as a potential employees may question it later at interviews. If you struggle to find a job right away try to do voluntary works, internship, and part time job. Don’t try to jump right on opening a business. Gain knowledge in practical way first.

Become self-employed

Sometimes to be successful, you need to think out of the box. If you are struggling to find your dream job why not create your own company?

If you have a great business idea and believe you can achieve it, put your entrepreneurial skills to the test. But first, you need to get experienced like I said above. The job you get might not be of your interest. Your dream if to become a manager and you may have to work as operational staff.  But, that is experience. Gain lots and lots of experience in your job, learn more, and make mistakes. After that if you want, you can start your own business.

Take a gap year

If you want to see more of the world, experience different cultures and meet new people before settling down to a work routine you should take a gap year.

Taking a gap from work and travelling will help you meet different people with different mindsets. Taking time out to travel demonstrates maturity, good organization and planning skills and self-sufficiency. So, gain more life experience so that you make more informed career decisions in your future.
