How not to live your life

how not to live your life

Life is a beautiful gift that most of us take for granted at times. There are so many things we could do to make it worthy. Yet, we decide to waste it for nothing.

It’s okay sometimes to be lazy and not want to do things. After all, we all have bad days, right?

But that doesn’t make it okay for us to wash our life down the drain and waste it.

Unlike in the movies, you only get one chance in real life. And to make it a complete waste is the worst thing you could do to yourself.

There are so many things that influence us to take the wrong path in life. You might blame it on the environment you grew up. Or maybe the type of people you hang out with.

But at the end of the day, it’s your life. And if you don’t make an effort to change it, no one else will.

Here’s how not to live your life.

Stop comparing yourself.

I’m not quite sure if it’s a human tendency or something that we learn along the way, but we sure do love comparing ourselves a lot, huh?

Whether it’s our bodies, success, or even outfits, we’re always looking around trying to find the flaws in ourselves.

We learn the art of comparing from our parents. Their favorite game is to compare their children to neighbors or good cousins. And make us feel so bad about our existence that we get scarred for life. When in reality we didn’t even ask for our life.

And they wonder why we don’t open up to them. Oh! the irony.

The next lesson of comparison comes from our beloved teachers. The ones that are there to educate us about important things.

However, they end up making our life miserable by making us think that we’re never good enough for anything.

So, the best way not to live your life is by not comparing yourself to anyone else. And by unlearning all the things you were taught as a kid.

Stop trying to please everyone.

The life you have is solely yours to live. You don’t owe it to anyone else. So, no matter how much you feel like you need to please someone, trust me you don’t.

Don’t ever live your life thinking what would somebody else say or think. Don’t live in constant fear that you might disappoint someone.

It’s totally fine to lose people from your life that doesn’t bring out the best in you. Since it’s your life, focus on yourself.

Focus on how to make your life better and how to achieve your goals. If someone gives you negative vibes, there is nothing wrong to cut them off.

Stop being negative.

Happiness is very important for all of us to continue to live. Life isn’t all about rainbows and sunshine. There are rainfalls and windstorms as well.

And to get over the windstorms, we all search of a little ray of hope. A hope that we’ll be happy once we get over it.

Some people fail to see that ray that’s why they end up taking their life. But one thing you should know is that this life is yours to live. So, you should do things that make your life feel complete.

Take up hobbies that satisfy your soul. Do things that give you happiness, but not the happiness that money could buy.

Stop hating yourself.

We’re all so caught up in this busy life. Do a million things, please everyone around you, and pretend that you’re a perfect human being.

Sometimes we forget that nothing is perfect and it is completely okay not to be.

We forget how important our life is. And we forget the importance of loving ourselves.

Honestly, we’re never taught to love ourselves and embrace the mess that we are. That is something we all should change. And we should teach ourselves and others to love ourselves more.

Stop expectations.

One thing I’ve learned from my life is that the only thing we get from expectations is a disappointment.

Most of us tend to give too much. We give too much of our time, love, affection, and what not to someone that clearly doesn’t deserve it.

And in return we expect them to do the same. Alas, that’s not how people work. At least not the ones I knew.

If I do something good, something good will happen to me. Karma won’t come and bite me in the backside is what we think.

Since our life is not a part of a romantic comedy that is not the way the universe works.

In fact, expecting too much from people and the situation will only make us unhappy and give up on life.

So, don’t think of yourself as a damsel in distress and expect a prince charming to come and rescue you.

You are your own boss and only you can make yourself happy.

Also, don’t ever think that you’re worthless. You wouldn’t be here if you were worthless. So, work hard to prove people wrong. You have no idea how good it feels to prove people wrong.
