Fun Things to do during Monsoon

Rain is coming and I have to admit, the days get pretty boring when it’s raining. It feels like everything and everyone is sad.

The roads are all dirty and muddy and you can’t walk a busy road without getting disrupted on every other step.

To be honest, it becomes a hassle to come out of the house while it’s raining.

Having to carry a wet umbrella is one problem, but the chance of you getting wet even with an umbrella is what is really troublesome.

The poor street animals and wild birds have to hide. And sometimes the rain is so intense that they can’t even get proper shelter.

Be that as it may, there are some people that absolutely adore rain. Their heart lights up with every drop of the water they listen. And if there is a thunderstorm or hailstorm, even better.

Rain isn’t totally annoying or boring even though some people absolutely despise it.

There are so many fun activities you could do to pass the time on a bummed rainy day.

You might not be able to fly a kite but you can definitely make paper boats and let it float away (don’t worry, Pennywise won’t pull you inside a sewer and kill you)

Here are a few fun things you could do during the monsoon season.

Don’t get out of bed.

The most fulfilling thing to do during monsoon is to sleep your stress away. There is nothing as calming as sleeping to the sound of rain.

There are so many things you could do even by staying wrapped up for the whole day.

There is nothing like a warm cup of hot chocolate, a snuggly blanket, your warm and cozy bed, and the sound of rain dripping.

So, don’t feel guilty to call in sick for a day, go ahead, you deserve it.

Wear your comfortable pajamas and sleep like a baby while listening to the sound of the monsoon rain.

Tie a hammock on your porch.

If you’re too tired of sleeping in your bed all day, you can try out this another fun thing.

You can tie a hammock or a cozy swing on your porch (balcony) and spend an entire day swinging away.

You could make a warm cup of tea/coffee/hot chocolate your companion and also your favorite book.

The sight of the rain pouring with your favorite book on your hands and a warm beverage to accompany you, while you swing your day away. What more would we want?

Go for a hike.

As crazy as it sounds, there is a different kind of pleasure hiking when there is a light drizzle outside.

The upside is that you won’t feel tired and sweaty while walking the miles.

You could also smell the beautiful scent of earth after the rain, nothing else can top that.

But one thing to remember is you need to be very cautious. Try to make sure you don’t slip and fall.

Cook something warm.

There is nothing like eating something warm during the chilly rainy days.

If you’re staying home try to amp up your stay and cook up something wonderful for yourself.

A warm bowl of noodle soup filled with veggies, meat, and so much flavor screams monsoon to its core.

And if you’re feeling a little too ambitious, fry up some tasty pakodas and a warm masala chai and enjoy the rest of the day to yourself.

Binge watch a series.

I know getting out of bed can be really hard when it’s raining cats and dogs outside.

And sometimes you just run out of things to do. And if you’re someone that gets reckless when you do nothing, here’s a perfect activity.

Binge watch your favorite TV series while listening to the pouring of rain.

You’ll get so caught up with the show you’ll forget that it’s raining and you won’t get bored.

If you’re not much of a series person, watch some romantic-comedies, trust me, romcoms are great fun during the monsoon.

Bring out your inner photographer.

Photographs during the rain are the best. The setting is perfectly beautiful as well as the scenes.

You don’t necessarily have to be a professional photographer to capture a great monsoon photograph.

And you also don’t need a professional camera to do the same.

In this day and age, your mobile camera will do.

Don’t worry about someone catching you taking a picture, everyone is busy saving themselves from the rain.

You could backpack and roam around the city to capture some great monsoon shots.

Or you could just sit in one corner of a place and capture the people passing by.

Pretend to wash your vehicle.

You don’t have to be all grumpy like the cat (RIP Grumpy Cat) just because it’s raining and you couldn’t finish your work.

You should actually rejoice and try to bring the best out of the situation.

It might sound a little crazy, and it actually is, but why not make a fool out of yourself during the rain?

And the best way to do it is by pretending to wash your car or your bike out in the rain.

I know it’s a little unconventional, but this is what bringing the best out of a situation means.

Well, admit it, your vehicle already needed a bit cleaning. And now that there is natural water pouring you don’t have to waste yours.
